Through the World Land Trust (WLT), Amanprana supports the Colombian environmental organisation Proaves. Proaves protects the habitats of birds and amphibians that are threathened with extinction by stopping excessive logging and deforestation. Red palm oil can give you a beautifully tanned and healthy skin because of its high concentration of natural vitamin E and carotenes. It is one of the best sources tocotrienols, a specific type of Vitamin E that prevents sun-related ageing of your eyes and skin up to 30 times better than other types of Vitamin E.
To get yourself prepared for the summer, all you need is 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of red palm on a daily basis in your food and you will sunburn less during the summer. Alternatively, you can rub your skin with it. (Mix 2/3 coconut oil with 1/3 red palm oil, possibly a few drops of essential oil for a nice fragrance.)
Please note that sun lotion mixture with red palm oil is very good for your skin and your tan, but it has no SPF. It should not be used as substitute to SPF sun lotions. If you use this mixture for your skin after sunbathing, however, you will have a nice color and your skin will be well-nourished. (Just wait long enough to put your clothes on because carotenes may leave stains, especially on white clothes.)
White palm oil in both organic and non-organic food products is believed to be unhealthy, as all of the wholesome, nutritious aspects of natural, organic palm oil (such as the carotenes, and various types of vitamin E) are refined out of it. Palm oil is naturally orange-red.
Amanprana’s red palm oil, on the other hand, enhances the nutritional value of your meals. A little healthy fat with each meal increases the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, K and many essential nutrients. On bread, you’ll taste the red palm. When heated, it adds a mild taste to your meals. Red palm oil is not recommended for repetitive frying. It is perfect for one time use only.
Red Palm Oil is ideal for wokking, frying or deep-frying (one time use only). When heated, the oil will add a mild flavour to your dishes. It contains very little polyunsaturated fatty acids making it a very stable oil when heated. PFA rich oils (such as sunflower, soybean, etc) should not be heated. Red Palm is less suited for repeated deep-frying, single time uses are recommended.
On bread you will taste the red palm. It is a spreadable mass at room temperatures, but becomes liquid at around temperatures of 20 - 30 °C.
